Small fails to shine in victoryAnthony Small retained his British and Commonwealth light-middleweight titles with a lacklustre victory over Thomas McDonagh in Wigan. The Londoner only came to life in the later rounds as defeat appeared a very real possibility, and his cause was aided as Manchester's McDonagh faded. It was a still close-run thing, with two judges scoring it 115-114 in Small's favour and the third 116-113. He improved his record to 24 wins, with one loss, but it was a fight to forget.
