Hayemakered

David Haye stamped his authority on the heavyweight division with a dramatic fifth round demolition of Monte Barrett at the 02 Arena in London, England.

Barrett comically hit the canvas even before the first bell rang as he attempted to leap over the top rope.

From the outset Haye used his superior speed and boxing ability to confuse Barrett, whose own punches looked lethargic in comparison. Haye landed some big shots in the first round by waiting for openings in Barrett's defence and swiftly punishing him with thundering jab and backhand combinations.

Barrett hit the canvas a total of five times with a double knock down in round five ending matters in a brutal fashion. Haye will now look for a summer time showdown against either Vitali or Wladimir Klitschko in 2009.
